Stillwater Ranch Agates
Stillwater Ranch, Big Bend of Texas
    The Stillwater Ranch next to the road connecting Marathon to the east side of Big Bend National Park, had allowed the people to enter and collect agates for a fee in the past as mentioned by older books on rock-collecting in Texas. Teri Smith also led the collecting trips to one corner of the ranch which is mainly an alluvial deposit loaded with jaspers, petrified wood and occasionally banded/plume agates. The Petrified Wood pieces are all over while the agates tend to be found in clusters coming from several sources to the northeast.
  As of 2019, the stillwater ranch has been sold and now a private property, collecting not allowed.
