Rio Grande Agates
Along Rio Grande River at the Big Bend of Texas
Since Rio Grande river had cut through the agate-bearing alluvial deposits and basalt beds, the river-worn agates can be found along the banks and gravel bars. The agates're mostly red, brown, yellow and gray moss types. Few banded and colorful agates had been found. I'm not sure where on Rio Grande river the people were able to have access to the gravel bars. Apparently, they had hauled in a lot of river-worn moss agates from their in the past since I'm still seeing them in old rough collections.
