Tymer(timen) River, Russia |
| Tymer River is one
of many agate and thunderegg
locations found in Russia, but apparently, the
ability to obtain the agates is restricted in Russia
as well as high cost of shipping. The story
was that the Soviets used dynamites to
blow up the basalt beds, resulting in finding too
many of the agates fractured
and broken up. The agates from Tymer River are
mostly colorless to white
with bluish tints, and many came with great
shadowing effects and black
plume inclusions. It's not expected to see any more
agates coming from Russia. |
