The
Coyomito Agates were discovered in 1960s and they had been
bought to the market in 1970s. It turns out that the
typical colors are red, pink
and light blue to purple colors, and any solid agates
showing strong banding
and strong colors are somewhat rare. The classic color
combos
would be purple & yellow combo, and orange &
yellow combo with
strong shadowing effects. The Coyamito agates are also
well known for their
excellent pseudomorphs (aragonite crystals replaced by
colorful agate). Often the agates from nearby sites are
mixed in or passed as Coyomito agates to make it easier to
sell them.
