Agua Nueva Agates

   The Aqua Nueva agates are sometimes passed as "New Lagunas" due to their similar appearance to the Laguna Agates even they don't come from the same basalt beds over several different hills. There are two claims on both side of the hill where Aqua Nueva agates are being mined. They come in two forms, nodular and vein forms with greenish-yellow mossy structures. The vein and large nodules are mined and broken into clunks to make them be suitable for cabbing and sometimes specimens. It's those greenish  mossy structures that sometimes give some agates the multiple "Eye" or "Tube" structures. The wide-spaced bands with pink, purple, lavender and white are typical of the Aqua Nueva agates while black, yellow, red and any brighter colors are sparse. The best specimens with bright colors and tighter banding seem to be found in smaller nodules in a really hard basalt bed just below where the large and mossy nodules are as according to Ramon.

Can be confused with Laguna Agates except that Aqua Nueva Agates have wider spaced bands and green moss structures.
