from East Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Plus few from Lower Michigan) |
| Even they're
found along the beaches for Lake Superior, the
agates found along the beaches between Grand
Marais, MI (not MN) and WhiteFish Point are in
many way different from those found in Minnesota.
The agates tend to be rounded/pebble-shaped and
more translucent with wider spaced bands as well
as being more orange, brown, yellow hued and
watered-down colors. Few agates can have bold
colors. The sizes are mainly pebble-sized, and few
fist-sized agates had been found. Grand
Marais of Michigan hosts popular Rock on with Lake Superior
Agates Festival each
September. Expect the agates to be harder to
find than ones from Minnesota beaches and any
obvious agates tend to be picked up quickly. |
