There are several different types of agates are found
around Kerrouche (or Kerrouchen). One comes in the form of
vein agates lined with brown plumes and the agates are
generally orange to yellow sometimes with bright red
colors. The agates with
white to gray colors are widely encountered, and some
comes with excellent shadowing effects.
The low-quality white agates were chemically
treated to produce the strong black and white colored
agates marketed as "Tuxedo Agate". The third type
of nodules are found often with plume-like inclusions
hanging from the walls/ceilings.
John Zenz's Agates and
Dietrich Mayer's Exquisite Agates books
have some info on Moroccan agates.
