Large agates have
been dug from several rivers including one near
Ambondromany, Madagascar and passed as "Carnelians" due to
the they can be heat-treated to produce more reddish and
blackish colors. The agates are usually dull yellow to
gray within that can be heated to become dirty red but
there are few nice and natural surprised within the agates
once cut. Natural yellow, white and brown are the dominant
colors. Recently, they started tumble-polish and
heat-treated the agates so it must be pointed that any
large tumble-polished agates with strong red-orange-brown
and black colors are heat-treated. Other agates are
Dentritic Agates and WhiteSkin Agates with soft yellow
tones.
