TRSE: How To Draw Tutorials:
Drawing Front View of a Female 'Full-Figure' Character.
Step 3

When it comes to drawing, the people tend to be measured in the height of "heads" based on the size of their heads, and you can see why it's best to do a light sketch of the head before you add the details. You need to make sure that the full-figure character fit on the paper, otherwise, you'll run out of space to draw the rest of the body. The average height of real humans are about seven heads and I will go with that. I used the head I sketched to mark the height of seven heads as shown by the picture above. I divided the rest of 6 "heads" evenly between the torso (3 heads) and legs (3 heads). That is the point where you can decide on how you do the "heads" and such "heads" marking can help control the way you draw the body proportions. See the pictures below for examples:
That shows how you can decide on your characters' height of how many heads and the body proportions. If you want long legs, you can go with 2 "heads" for the torso and four "heads" for the legs or you can omit a head and get a height of 6 "heads" where the torso gets 2 "heads" while the legs get 3 "heads" to give an illusion of petite body and long legs. You save some space this way, and that is a similar trick I used for drawing my own fanfic mangas (2 1/2 "heads for torso and 2 1/2 "heads" for the legs). That kind of 6 "heads" tall body proportion seems to be common in the Animanga especially among the young female characters. It's up to you to decide on your own body proportions.
You can vary the height of a character by varying the height of the head. If you want to draw a shorter character, go with shorter head, if you want to draw taller character, go with taller head.
