Sugar Bowl Thundereggs
Sugar Bowl Mine, Florida Mtns, Luna Co., New Mexico
.
The name "Sugar Bowl" refers to the sugar-like quartz crystals lining the white geode centers of black to white agate thundereggs. The mining attempt was made at the Sugar Bowl Mine only to discover that the pocket of thundereggs was very small, hence, it was short-lived. Several pits were dug around Sugar Bowl mine, but they kept hitting the small pockets. Bascially, the Sugar Bowl was dotted with small pockets, no big deposits. I explored the pits and I have found few good thundereggs as if they have been overlooked. Some thundereggs from one pit contain sagentite. The typical colors of the Sugar Bowl thundereggs are white, black and gray, and I haven't seen any in other colors beside rare red sagnetites.

The site is now considered EXTINCT.
