Red Hot Thundereggs
50 miles out of USA border, near Sonora/Chihuahua Border, Mexico
.
"Red Hot" refers to the deep red color of agates in some thundereggs (think of red hot chili peppers), and they're one of very few thundereggs to be boldly colored. Generally, the colors are rare in the thundereggs due to the lack of coloring agents in their rhyolitic hosts . They come in other colors such as purple, orange, yellow and many shades of red. Due to their weathered nature,  fractures are typical in many thundereggs.
