Nepa River Agates
Nepa River, Far East Side of Siberia, Russia
.
The agates were recently discovered being eroded out of soft limestone and mudstones along the Nepa river. In many ways, they resemble Kentucky and Puma
Agates. The typical colors are red, reddish-orange, and orange which are weathered colors. Some agates have been found with brigthter colors such as yellow and purple colors. Like kentucky agates, the agates had been subject to heavy weathering so much of the agates are fractured. Obtaining the agates from an extremely remote location in the eastern side of Siberia, Russia proved to be costly and they had to be glued together as "art crafts" in order to ship them past the strict customs since the Russian laws appear to be against the import of raw rock and gemstones roughs for some reasons.

Updated October 2010, new specimen have 2010y in their code names..
Larger pictures of any interested specimens can be provided at request
All agates are fractured unless stated otherwise.
