The second year was when I learned that GIFs are
much more efficient than JPGs, so I worked to convert the old graphics
into GIFs as well as creating new graphics. That period also saw the massive
collapse in massive financial & adversting funds of many website hosts
throughout internet resulting in additions of infamous pop-ups to so many
websites out there. The Geocities.com was affected, and as a result,
the Spaceports.com became a primary host of the TRSE. The Image Gallery
later was added to showcase the collection of my favorite Naoko T.'s artworks.
I went a little too far and added too much graphics during that time. ^_^;;
The Guest Fanart Gallery was also opened in November 2000 for any
artists to submit their fanarts as well as the Humorous Fanart Contest
(Oct. 2000-Feb 2001), the first contest to be hosted by the website.
I already started experimenting with "Kawaii GIFs" and posted few prototype
ones. Sailor Mars: Possessed Dreams (June 2000) and Tuxedo Mask:
The Spirit of Moon (April 2001) were posted during the second year
of TRSE website. All fanfic mangas were eventually moved from Xoom.com
(now extinct) to the new Spaceports.com.
If I remember correctly, the years of 2001 was when
SailorMoonS
and SailorMoonSuperS dubs were first aired on Cartoon Network and
didn't do well most likely due to weak handling/dubbing of the episodes
as well as too many SM fans already having seen the original Japanese version
and not bothering to watch English dubs, resulting in very weak ratings
(indicators of popularity). Ironically, the SMR: Promise of the Rose
movie VHS was in the Amazon.com's top10 video bestsellers for several weeks,
and I consider that the peak of the popularity of Sailor Moon in
North America.
