Condor Vent Agates
Mendoza Province, Argentina, South America
.
There is some confusion over the excat location of Condor Agates as result os a practice of giving false locations to throw off the claim-jumpers and that is usually true for other Argentinian agate sites.  Such agates were brought to the United States by Luis De Los Santos who named them after the large birds flying above the collecting site some 6,000 feet high in the Andes Mountains of Patagonia, Argentina. The access to the site is very difficult and can be done only on horseback, hence, a limit on how much agates can be brought down from each trip depending on weather, luck and availability of helpers. There are two agate sites in the same area, one has nodular agates, while other site has vein-like agates, both similar in colors and banding. The colors of the Condor Agates tend to be dark with colors common being brown, orange, yellow and orange, but they can come in a full spectrum of colors as well as varying and more desired color combos especially if they come in bright colors. What are offered below are the vent type of Condor Agate.
