Ansi Agates

       I'm not sure if I got the location correct for this type of agates due to the face that the agate & amethyst bearing basalt beds cover a very large area from Sidi Rahal to Ansi. The area is mined mainly for amethyst geodes with unsusual structures within and the solid nodules (agates) tend to be ignored. The agates are quite unusual for they often contain red stalacitic agates with irregular gray bandings extending to one side. Red, lavendar, white and gray are the typical colors, and some nodules are known to contain some needle-like geothie inclusions, pseudomorphs and sagenite structures.

All agates are fractured unless stated otherwise.
