-Typical colors: Three main groups
of colors: Red-gray-white, yellow-orange, and white-pink.
-Typical sizes: 1
to 8 centimeters, rarely larger.
-Typical shapes: Smoothly rounded
to domed nodules
-Most distinguishing characteristic:
Small agate nodules in three main groups of color combinations, porcelian-like
white to pink agates among the rough.
-Special Notes:
Any agates picked off the ground are commonly fractured and best ones can
be dug from underground. Shadowing seems to be restricted only to red-gray-white
and yellow-orange color combination groups.
