Dryhead Agates

 

-Typical colors: Orange (most common), yellow, pink, white. Red and other colors are rare.
-Typical sizes: 5 to14 centimeters, rarely larger
-Typical shapes: Disks to rounded nodules
-Most distinguishing characteristic: Orangish agate in dark gray matrix is almost always Dryhead Agate.
-Special Notes: The Dryheads have alternating quartz and agate layers and quartz layers are always flourescent (green in shortwave UV).
