South Cliff Datolites
South Cliff Mine, Keweenaw
CO., Michigan
Field-collecting
Status: Ownership Unknown, competely buried,
. I don't know that much about
the South Cliff Mine which is next to fissure-based Cliff Mine
which is better known for its copper and silver specimens. It was
plowed once or twice during the Keweenaw Mineral Week and many
datolites have been found. I tried to search but never found any
except greenish one. As of August 2015, I checked and someone
dumped so much dirt over the mine piles as part of Cliff
Reclaimation projecd. So everything's buried under so much dirt.
Apparently, most datolites are white, rarely with pink, gray and
yellow hues.
