.      The datolites have been found along the shores of Lake Superior especially along Keweenaw Peninsula and and Isle Royale island, and more can be found by scuba diving (wouldn't that be "cheating"?). The shores of Isle Royale island had produced many excellent datolite nodules with some being quite colorful and large, but right now, the island is closed to any collecting (there goes the top quality greenstones!) for now.
