Delaware Datolites
Delaware Mine, Delaware, Keweenaw Co., Michigan
Field-collecting Status: Most of the piles are gone. Collect at one's own risk
(Few people had been kicked off the mine dumps).

.   The Delaware Mine is a favorite spot to hunt for colorful datolites, and so many had been found that they're some of the most the most encountered of any datolites coming from Michigan.  Althrough, it had been bulldozed by the local club many times,  the datolites are still found from time to time. The mine dumps are easily accessible by anyone wanting to try their luck finding some datolites especially those with highly desired pink to red colors. At least six different types of datolites have been found there. One area produced the white to gray datolite nodules while other spot produced orange, yellow, pink and red datolites without any white rims.  The muddy area (due to creek) produced red, orange and yellow datolites with strong white rims. Two areas produced ivory to light orange-colored ones while other area produced opaque datolites
