Lucky Strike & Valley View Thundereggs
Ochoco Mountains, Oregon
I put both Lucky Strike and Valley View thundereggs on the same page because they are similar due to the close proximity of the mines and the thundereggs larger than fists are most likely to have come from Lucky Strike Mine. I have not obtained enough roughs from both mines. The Valley View mine is already closed and I think that Lucky Strike Mine is still producing. I have seen the sacks of Lucky Strike thundereggs, but did not get them usually because they were too big for me (that was before I got my drop saw). The thundereggs looked like yellow speckled greenish balls and those of Lucky Strike Mine is supposedly to have quite colorful agates cores in them as well as moss agates.

Rough Appearance: Both mines produces yellow speckled greenish gray "balls".
Not sure how to distingish between those from the mines but anything larger than a fist are most likely to come from Lucky Strike Mine.
Agates are said to be diverse with colorful (blue, yellow, white, red, and black) banded, white to gray, waterlines and moss agates.
