Dead Tree Thundereggs
Little Florida Mountains, Luna Co., New Mexico
.
I was the first one to discover the "Dead Tree" thundereggs in March 2006, and the name refers to the dead tree which I used to mark the path to the thunderegg deposit. What I found on my first digging trek was few thundereggs containing back to white agates with geode centers and one containing very neat white agate covering black manganese blades giving it a sagenite-like appearance. That was this sagenitic thunderegg that got me really interested in doing some serious digging the next time I visit the site.
Unfortunately, after the second attempt at digging in March 2007, the "Dead Tree" deposit proved to be a very small pocket with too many large junk thundereggs sitting on the top of blank pertile layer. I am getting an impression that finding that sagenitic thunderegg may be like hitting a 777 on a gambling slot, hence, "Freak Find".  The land where I found Dead Tree Thundereggs is now a private land and no further digging are allowed.

I found this one in the road toward the top of Little Florida Mountains
May be kaolinite(clay) aggregates replaced by agate. A rare find.
