Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum:
Hidden Saddle Thundereggs
Wiley Well District, south of Bythne, California
The Hidden Saddle refers to the fact that the weathered pertile bed is situed on the "saddle" between the high points of a ravine hidden from the parking area. It can be reached only by hiking to it and ignore the first diggings as one hike there. It was obvious that the people did find the thundereggs with something in them from there and my first impression wasn't good. But even so, I did find some thundereggs with solid frosty banded agates and most of the thundereggs are hollow and lined with chalcedony. The most interesting find is those lined neon green chalcedony and I couldn't find out what kind of neon green mineral impurity that gave them strong neon green color (no one bothered to have them be analyzed). The agates are generally clear sometimes with frosty banding. I can tell that Hidden Saddle bed are related to the Straw and Black Hill beds.
