Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum:
"Blue Star" Thundereggs
Butler Ranch, Hermanas, Luna Co., New Mexico
.
I have finally located the site of the "Blue Star"  Thundereggs mined by Peter Ghitney and his son. The thundereggs from that pit is mostly or wiith narrow cavities and the agates are mostly bluish purple waterline types hence "Blue Star". But there had been some prized surprises such as finding yellow to orangish sagenite inclusions and red to orange banded agates. I have cut a lot of roughs from that pit, and it may not be worth re-opening the mine even it's possible to find better thundereggs if one keep digging it.
