It was decided to continue to work on the same stratrum that produced a very good percentage of excellent agate specimens, but the overlaying layers of rhyolite & pertile had to be scrapped off first in order to make it safer to backhoe the stratrum. Several large eggs with some containing amethyst geodes and narrow agate-filled cavities showed up during that time. After that, the work began on the stratrum itself, and althrough the stratrum seemed to be not as rich as it used to be during the first day of mining in April 2006, many great Baker Egg thunderggs have been obtained despite fact that we had gotten more more geode-type thundereggs(many rimmed with agates), and some geodes contained very clear calcite crystals (clearest I have ever seen). Here's the best Baker Eggs I collected from March 2007 mining expedition. |
