Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum:
Agates of Russia
.
It appears that there are several agate producing agates around the rivers in the far eastern Siberia, and some sites produced quite colorful agates comparable to the Kentucky Agates. The agates were found at Tymen(Timen) in 1982, and they used dymanites sto blow up the basalt beds, resulting in getting too many of the agates fractured and broken up. The agates from Tyman River are mostly colorless to white with bluish tints, and many came with great shadowing effects and black plume structures.
The colorful sedimentary agates from Nepa River were brought in by Siberian geologist and I have seen only few of them so far. Most are too large for me to buy and polish, but I did pick up few smaller agates with bright red to orange colors. It may be not possible to bring in any agates from Russia due to the embargo on raw materials and I wouldn't be surprised if  such agates had been smuggled out of Russia.
