Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum:
Agates of Russia
.
What is present here is just few of many agate and thunderegg locations of Russia. It is unfortunate they are not easy to obtain mainly due the high cost of obtaining anything from there. The most widely encountered agates would be those coming from Tymen(Timen). They used dymanites sto blow up the basalt beds, resulting in getting too many of the agates fractured and broken up. The agates from Tyman River are mostly colorless to white with bluish tints, and many came with great shadowing effects and black plume structures.
One Russian geologist I met brought in some colorful sedimentary agates (similar to Kentucky Agates) from Nepa River. Those are the only types of Russian agates I have personally seen or obtained. Hopefull, something come up that will make it easier to obtain more agates from Russia.
