Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum:
Purple Passion Agates
Purple Passion Mine, Casas Grandas, Mexico
.
The Purple Passion Agates is one of several sites around Casas Grandas and its remote location limits the quantity that can be mined and brought to the market. The agates are generally vein type within the basalt/andesite beds so it's difficult to cut the whole patterns out of them. Althrough the term "Purple Passion" refers to the strong purple colors of the agates coming from that location, they can also occur in wider variety of pink, red, brown, gray, and black often in constrasting manner.
