Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum: Missouri Lace Agates
Washington Co., Missouri
.
It is known for many decades that the Washington Co.
of Missouri produced the lacy agates passed as "Missouri Lace Agate". They
are typically gray colored with bits of red, yellow and orange bands and
commonly capped with druzy quartz crystals. They tend be extracted as large
broken clunks with horizontal banding making it rare to find those with
semi whole pattens.
