Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum:
Malawi Blue Lace Agate
Malawi, Africa
.
Often passed as "Blue Chalcedony" and cabbed in the same manner as chrysoprase, the lace agates from Malawi often come in strong sky-blue sometimes with white banding. It is unfortunate that the Malawai Blue agates can be faked and sold as highly desired and elusive Ellensburg Blue Agates from Oregon. The agate tend to be fragmentary due to the rough mining methods and I was lucky to find one with whole pattern.

Rough Picture not available (I forgot to scan the roughs)

Rough Appearance: Usually thin blue chalcedony bands in geometric shaped vein nodules.
Can be distingushed from Namibia Blue Agates by its nodule shapes. Namabia Blue Lace Agates are more linear.

Contour-polished to preserve the pattern.
