Laguna Agates
Mesquite & Macedonia Claims, Estacion Ojo Laguna, , Mexico
.
.      The Mesquite and Macedonia claims are the older claims mined and they share the same basalt formation as Conejeros and Alianza claims. The agates from the Mesquite claim can be labeled as "lesser Lagunas" since they don't seem to be as impressive as the Laguna agates from other two claims. It seems obvious to me that the agates of Mesquite Claim had a wetter enviroment (closer to water source like a river?) than those of other claims as evident by thicker transparent bands/films (or fewer bands in each specimen). Those of Macedonia claim tend to produce larger nodules with strong greenish skins.

Rough Appearance: Rounded to irregular shaped nodules with rough texture & greenish to reddish coating and crumbly red basalt.
The agates usually have wider bands with "watered-down" colors
