Laguna Agates are most famous and prized of all agates around the world
for their good sizes, wide variety of vivid colors, numbers of bands per
specimen, shadowy effects, and anything else that makes them so desirable.
The white color is most common color of any laguna agates. Other common
colors are pink, lavendar, red, gray, and orange, but they can come
in any colors(green is rarest color of all) and any combinations of different
colors (more desirable).
They came from several claims around Estacion Ojo Laguna, and there is three main active claims: Conejeros, Alianza, and Mesquite, all mined by Gem Shop Inc. Because of their popularity, it is actually quite hard for me to obtain the roughs (polished specimens are way too pricey for a poor boy like me, heheh) and even harder to find roughs that are not white. Frankly, I do find it qutie frustrating to be not able to get my hands on top quality Laguna roughs. Diana Claim was recently opened, but the agates seem to share the characteristics more with those from Mesquite claim. The agates' colors have "Watered down" look to them with the bands widely spaced. Few agates with classic colors and tight-banded have been found from the Diana Claim. |
