Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum:
Dentritic Agate
Madagascar, Africa
.
I didn't pay much attention to the dentritic agates coming from one of several agate sites of Madagascar mainly because they tend to be too big for me to cut. The agates are heavily weathered brown agates showing the banding details, "eyes" and other structures and the true colors are well hidden wtihin them that can be revealed only by cutting or breaking them. Normally, the agates would be colorless to white, sometimes with yellowish tint with varying amount of dentritic inclusions, and some people would tumble-polish the rough pieces to bring out the dentrities along the surface of the agates, hence, "Dentritic Agate".
It just happened that I noticed one rough piece with exposed but weathered banding on both sides and it's small enough for me to cut so I bought it. I was in for a big surprise after I cut it.  It turned out that in some rare cases, we can have the agates from that location with very showy colors and bandings (maybe even with showy sagenite structures). I later picked up few more nodules.
