Blue Lace Agates
Karasburg, Grunau, Namibia
.
Blue Lace Agates is one of few most popular agates used in lapidary projects because of their strong blue colors. They were mined from many seams of agate wthin the granite. It appears to me that the Blue Lace agates may be psuedomorphs after the banded calcite seams as shown by their irregular banding, calcite impressions on the bottom and being topped with white crystals.  I noticed that when they're sliced, thinner the slab is cut, weaker the blue color become and that may be why the thicker specimens seem to retain their strong blue colors.

Broken seams of blue banded agate are dead give aways.

Rare to find a whole pattern. I searched through a barrel and found only one like this one.
