Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum: Aouli Agates,
Aouli, Morocco, Africa
.
The Aouli Agates recognizable
by their general cone-like shapes, had entered the market only for a short
due due to the fact that too much of Aouli agates were fractured. They
came from one of several sites along a large basalt deposit around Aouli,
but treated by Moroccans as a single locality. White and gray are most
common colors while some agates came with red, purple, yellow and orange(second
most common color) while some came with excellent shadowing effects. Occasionally,
the serious collectors would find rare colorful agates of higher quality.
Gem Shop Inc. treated some of the gray to white agate fragments to produce
the strong black and white colored agates called "Tuxedo Agate".
