TRSE: The Manga Library:
The Pacificators Manga Project
June 01, 2007:  After a year of brainstorming, I have finally finalized a script for the first volume of Pacificators: The Gateway to the Heavens and it was a lot of fun! ^__^ It's very likely that I will do the script a chapter by chapter for easier and less stressful work (30 pages a month?). Many mangas started like that. For example, each week or each month, a magazine like Shonen Jump or ShojoBeat would print 20 to 30 pages from each author. Since I'm doing this manga alone, it may be easier for me to finish each chapter per month.

An short Introductory story about the Pacificators was included
with -The Three Guardians: The Mother of All but here is the direct link to that story.

Some people would think this project manga as a "Post-Apocalypse Future" type, but it's not so since I am actually using the history of the Dark Ages of Europe as a model where the political collapse of the Roman Empire resulted into the Dark Age, and eventually various kingdoms & nations were starting to recover from the Dark Ages with the help of Cathotic priests and monks acting as "mediators" resulting in the Renaissance Period. The story is expected to be very character-oriented (focused on the main characters). "Pacificators" is latin for "peacekeepers" who were to help mediate any conflicts and bring the countries out of the Second Dark Age. I'm expecting plenty of humor, drama, some tragedies, action, and of course, romance which will take time to build up. The storyline will take place in the "future version" of Europe with some countries had been changed or fragmented (like Russia breaking up into pieces with Moscow becoming  a kingdom). The reason why I chose Europe is that Europe retains its "old wounds, and old grudges" meaning that that continent is always in conflict for so many thousands of years due while the societies of America, and Asia seem to be a little too culturally stable.

Summary:
Few millennia have passed ever since, and it is toward the end of the Second Dark Age where the civilizations are beginning to recover from some great economical depression/collapse (not some boring apocalyptic cases of huge meteorites, nuclear wars, earthquakes, Ice Ages, volcanos, whatever), and they are starting to prosper thanks to the efforts of the Pacificators. The overall goal of  Pacificators is to secure and maintain the total continental peace by resolving and preventing any conflicts (difficult tasks). What is so special about the Pacificators is a small percentage of Pacificators somehow have "magical powers" which they can manipulate the elemental powers such as earth, air, water, fire, light, magnetism and even gravity using what is called "telekinetics" (you can call that "magic" if you prefer).  The Pacificators generally are grouped into the platoons consisting of five members and it is usual for each platoon to include a member or two with "magical powers" under the command of regular humans (commanders). Many people with such magical capabilities become the Pacificators willingly (and sometimes against their wills), and naturally, there are some bad people with such powers looking for some trouble. The Pacificators can use their powers to do what must be done to bring about the global peace, but the problem of having such powers is that their lifelines get shorter each time they use their powers exceeding small "safe limits". It's like "Rabbit Vs Turtle" race, where a rabbit is very energetic but short-lived while the turtle being slow, live longer. So they have to be careful with their powers. To make everything harder, they have to deal with the chaotic nature of the humans.
The story of Pacificators will begin with Daryl Smithson, a novice Pacificator of Light who was assigned by her newly appointed superior, Commander Bismun Volborth(no special powers), to begin her first mission with her new platoon of experienced Pacificators protected by Egmond Dumortier, a hired mercenary. Her platoon is to investigate the reported sightings of an ancient oil platform that local people have been passing as the "Gateway to the Heavens" for any technology relics and destroy any weapons caches they may discover, but there will be plenty of things going wrong for mysterious Nozimo and the independent Renegades (bad people with powers) have taken interest in this odd platform.

There had been a plenty of strong influences on this manga project by many other Anime and mangas with Sailor Moon being strongest influence (a team of "magical girls"). I just started comparing my own ideas with many other animes and I came up with many similarities that worked pretty well for those other animes such as Bleach, Fruit Baskets, Love Hina, Naruto, Beserk, many of CLAMP series and few more.

Diagrams & Descriptions of the Characters:
Most of the names were derived from the minerals which had already been named after the people. Note that many characters below are based on real people not some boring (no offense!) hollywood-type "hotties/celebrities".

Pacificators, (Main Characters):
- Daryl Smithson,Novice Pacificator of Light: Age: 18
Daryl is to be a plain, "chubby"(overweight), cheerful and bit naive girl (comparable to Tohru of Fruit Baskets). After having just graduated from her academy, she was very eager to begin her first mission with her idols. It is considered unusual to assign a novice agent to an unit full of experienced Pacificators in a way that some people are starting to wonder what Bismun was up to when he chose Daryl to replace one of his members who was killed during his last failed major mission.
She is to carry a Staff of Light containing a cracked fluorescent orb passed to her by her mother who she hasn't seen in a while, and she always feel guilty/sad whenever they ask about her staff. She also has an older brother that she hadn't heard from for a while.

- Bismuth Volborth, the Commander of Pacificators Platoon 113, Age: 31
Bismun's the kind of guy who tend to make a fuss about keeping his hair straight and neat, but in spite of his vanity, he's always serious with his job as the commander of his Pacificators platoon 113. He tend to act like an "older-brother" toward his suboordinates, and because of the fact that his platoon consisted entirely of female Pacificators, he earned a badly misunderstood reputation as a commander of a "Harem" that he had been trying to dissipate. Since those with special powers are very rare, it was usual for a five-member platoon to include one or two members with special powers, and the fact that Bismun's platoon consisting entirely of special powered Pacificators are beyond unusual.
His ambition is to form a platoon consisting of experienced and famed Pacificators out of hope of bringing a total peace to the continent within his lifetime, and that nearly backfired on him when his last mission miserably failed the big way which one of his invaluable Pacificatord died as a result. Such failure and the death of an invaluable Pacificators (Pacificators with special powers are very rare) have divided the platoon to the point of falling apart. It is not known why would Bismun recruit a novice like Darly Smithson to join his platoon that is on verge of falling apart. His platoon consists of Daryl, Muncea, Cinna, Taffe and Larima.

- Muneca Powell, Pacificator of Gravity, Age: Annoymous(she would say something like this: it's impolite to ask the ladies about their ages!)
Muneca is a snotty  & bossy "By the Book" type with strong sense of her duty as a Pacificator. Extremely over-modest Muncea is always heavily dressed making Cinna enjoy picking on her for that. Being very private person, Muneca won' t reveal anything about herself, her past, and why she's dressed this way. When she gets frustrated, she tend to try to take charge of the unit she's assigned to resulting in repeated conflicts with Cinna and Taffa(in charge). She is prone to depressions from time to time and refusing help. She is equipped with an umbrella that is more than just a regular umbrella.........Cinna and Muneca really hate each other...

-Cinna Grossul, Pacificator of  Fire, Infiltration agent, Age 22
Cinna likes to be playful(more like being immature) and she tend to pick on Daryl for her weight, and Muncea for her unusual fashion tastes. She  often suffer from her emotion unstability and get upset easily (easy to be provoked). When she gets in a bad mood, she tend to become very mean. In her case of being able to generate excess heat, it's very dangerous for her to get too emotional. Due to the opposite personalities of Cinna and Muncea, it's very difficult for them to get along with each other (plenty of conflicts). Her parents died when she was very young with no siblings.

-Larima Torbern, Pacificator of Water, Age 26
She had a brief appearance as a light-blue haired member of Black Moon in JA's "Four Horsemen of Apocalypse: Runes of Druid" SailorMoon fanfic manga and she seemed to be a favorite with the readers. Now she will make her appearance in this manga. ^_^
Larima is to be a strict pacifist with dreams of achieving a global peace through nonviolent efforts which often put her in odds with Cinna and Taffa who sometimes had to do the hard way to settle any conflicts, deal with stubborn & violent people or just to get their points across. Taffa is her younger sister and their parents died in a war, one of major reasons for Larima's pacifist attitude. She is also one of most popular Pacificators, and because of that, she tend to get kidnapped quite few times.

-Larima Torbern, Pacificator of Air, Junior Commander of Platoon 113. Age 23
Taffe had a big role as a member of Black Moon in JA's SailorMoon fanfic mangas (mainly as a villain).
Taffe is quite a tomboy making her rather a tough girl with a bit of cold attitude (and rarely sociable). She does not care what others says about her, and she tend to be blunt with her vocal opinions that often alienate others without caring about any resulting consequences of her remarks. She has been assigned by Bismun to lead her unit, but she seems to be doing that half-heartedly because of the fact that she never wanted to be a Pacificator in the first place. She is a younger sister of Larima, and Larima is the only person Taffe can warm to.

-Nozomi (her surname is unknown), a distant and mysterious person brought from the Far East.

--Tourmale Peroski, with power of Magnetism.

Tourmale is to be a captain of one of the military forces of Moscow(what remained of Russia) with oversized ego and ambitions to restore Russia to its former glory, and bring the total peace to the continent thru conquest and iron-fist rule. His most treasured possession is the rose preserved in liquid nitrogen that had been given to him by a princess he fell in love with when he was a child. Some people have been suspecting that he may have to do something with a certain incident where he was the only survivor. He has a son who had a plenty of fallouts with him.
