The
Hatt Ranch along with several other places such as Yellow
Cat River, is one of several rockhounding destinations in
Utah where agates, petrified wood and some fossils are
found. The "Grape Agates" agate-rimmed agates are generally
dug as "mud balls" out of shale/mudstone and many tend to be
hollow sometimes lined with red to yellow agates, calcite or
barite crystals. Solid banded red to yellow agates are
apparently hard to find.
