Dwarves' Earth Treasures Museum:
"Sagenite Hole" Thundereggs
Florida Mtns, Luna Co., New Mexico

pic   The Sugar Bowl #2 Mine also called "Sagenite Hole" is the second pocket of thundereggs along the Sugar Bowl stratrum but like the original mine, it's not a big pocket.
The name "Sugar Bowl" refers to the sugar-like quartz crystals lining the white geode centers within the thundereggs' dark colored agate cores. The rhyolite shells of the thundereggs are poorly silicified.
The agate in the thundereggs are usually gray, but they can come in white, gray and black colors and most agates are heavily loaded with blade-like inclusions.
I explored the dumps that have been dumped by the backhoe and found a number of good thundereggs as if they have been overlooked by the previous miners. The pit is considered exhausted/dug out.

Site Status: As of Jan 2022, it's under "Thunder" Claim, please don't dig there without permission.
