Due to the fact that so few Japanese are interested in collecting agates and thundereggs, very few agates are available and usually can be obtained only thru trades with Japanese collectors. In site for that, the agates are more varied than many collectors would expect to come from Japan and that includes the thundereggs. Most agates are colorless, gray and white, but some locations did produce colorful agates and most ended up being carved into ornamental objects in the past or mediation stones.
